      <image:title>About Abby - Abby Soule (She/Her)</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a Brooklyn-based sexuality educator, home baker, and full spectrum doula. I provide compassionate support and personalized education through a sex-positive lens throughout the full spectrum of pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. Originally from Massachusetts, I spent 6 years in New Orleans studying at Tulane University, teaching Sex Ed in high schools and cooking classes to elementary school students, and finding the best spot for a shrimp po’ boy. I have over 10 years of childcare experience, as well as 5 years of experience working directly in sexual and reproductive health education. My knack for intuitive listening and humor, and my many years working in client-facing positions, have made me an excellent educator and care provider - qualities that help me better connect with the families I serve as a doula. I became a doula for the same reasons I became a Sexuality Educator - because everyone has the right to make informed decisions about their healthcare, and because I believe that everyone should feel seen, heard, and cared for in whatever they are going through. Currently, the United States is one of the most dangerous places to give birth, and is even more dangerous for Black people and communities of color. I came to this work because I want to provide all people - no matter their race, gender, or sexual orientation - with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their bodies, sexualities, and pregnancies. Each pregnancy is different, and I want to help you have your best possible pregnancy, birth, and debut into parenthood by providing you with continued support, comfort, and advocacy.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Abby and her collaborator, Liv Hockenberry, led a virtual workshop: Starting at the Beginning: Healthy Sexuality in Preschool Classrooms This 1-hour workshop provided participants with the knowledge and skills to create a comprehensive, age-appropriate, sex positive preschool classroom or home environment for preschool aged children. This workshop focused on creating an environment for children that fosters 3 key components: Building healthy relationships with yourself and others Developing bodily awareness and autonomy Recognizing and respecting your unique likes and dislikes Research shows that early comprehensive and age-appropriate sex education can help reduce shame, delay the onset of first sexual encounters, protect children from harm and abuse, and open them up to pleasure and their own preferences. Through breakout rooms, lecture components, and interactive polls, participants learned the skills needed to approach parenting or teaching in a way that will reduce shame and set children up to eventually become sexually and confident healthy adults. By the end of the workshop, participants: Understood why sexuality education belongs in preschool classrooms Left with examples of language they can use with their preschool students to begin helping them develop healthy relationships with their sexualities, and keep them safe. Understood the principles of sex-positivity and how to make a comprehensive, age-appropriate, shame-free, and sex-positive classroom</image:caption>
